Zelensky Calls on Trump for Peace Mediation in Ukraine Conflict

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky encouraged Donald Trump to facilitate peace in Ukraine, akin to his efforts in the Middle East, during a phone conversation on Saturday, as reported by the Ukrainian leader.

Zelensky remarked in a Facebook post, «If it is possible to end a conflict in one area, then it stands to reason that other conflicts can also be resolved — including the war with Russia.»

The relationship between the two leaders has significantly improved since February, when they had a contentious exchange during a now-famous televised meeting at the White House.

Since then, Trump has referred to Zelensky as a «nice guy» and has continued to express his support for Ukraine, which has been resisting a Russian invasion that began in 2022.

The two leaders had previously met on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York this past September.
