Teenage Scion of Kadyrov Expands His Governmental Reach in Chechnyas Tax Oversight

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has appointed his 17-year-old son, Adam, to oversee property tax payments for municipal organizations in the North Caucasus region, adding yet another responsibility to the teenager’s already extensive list of official roles.

In the last two years, Adam Kadyrov has taken on at least seven different positions. He began his trajectory in 2023 as his father’s head of security, the same year he drew media attention for physically assaulting a teenage inmate accused of setting fire to the Quran.

Instead of facing consequences for this publicly recorded incident, the younger Kadyrov has been the recipient of multiple government honors and promotions within Chechnya.

Ramzan Kadyrov made this latest announcement concerning his son’s new role during a meeting focused on the socioeconomic development of Chechnya, where he assigned Adam the responsibility of managing property tax collection.

In addition to this role, Adam Kadyrov functions as the secretary of Chechnya’s Security Council, serves as a key advisor to the regional Interior Ministry, and oversees two battalions of the Russian Defense Ministry. He has also been assigned to lead fundraising efforts for humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

The elder Kadyrov, now 48, has exercised significant autonomy over Chechnya since 2007, largely in return for loyalty to the Kremlin. Exiled media outlets have reported on the family’s opulent lifestyle, which includes a collection of luxury vehicles, high-end watches, and extravagant wedding celebrations.
