Russia Denounces Macrons Ogre Insult Towards Putin as Vulgar and Offensive

On Friday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry reproached French President Emmanuel Macron for using «vulgar insults» after he referred to President Vladimir Putin as a “predator” and an “ogre.”

In an interview with the broadcaster LCI last week, Macron cautioned European leaders against placing their trust in Putin, asserting, “To ensure his survival, he must continue to consume… This makes him a predator, an ogre at our doorstep.”

His comments followed a summit in Washington where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, and European allies.

During a televised briefing, Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Macron’s remarks “exceeded the bounds of reason and respectability, transforming into crude insults directed at Russia and its citizens.”

Moscow has consistently condemned France’s support for Ukraine, as Paris has emerged as one of Kyiv’s staunchest allies since Russia initiated its large-scale invasion in February 2022, supplying military equipment and financial assistance.
