Putin and Trump Explore Fair Path to End Ukraine Conflict in Historic Talks

On Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that he explored avenues for achieving a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine «on equitable terms» during his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Addressing high-ranking officials in Moscow, a day after their discussions in Alaska, Putin described the talks as «opportune» and «extremely productive,» based on footage released by the Kremlin.

«It’s been a long time since we’ve had negotiations of this nature at such a high level,» he noted, adding that the discussions allowed both sides to calmly and comprehensively restate their positions.

«The dialogue was very open and substantive, and in my view, it brings us closer to reaching the necessary decisions,» he remarked.

On February 24, 2022, Putin ordered a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of thousands, the devastation of cities, and the displacement of millions of people from their homes.
