New Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Kids: A Colorful Companion for Young Readers with Features Designed for Parental Peace of Mind

In India, Amazon offers only the Kindle Paperwhite model, priced at Rs. 16,999, which is surprising given the wide variety of models available globally at different price ranges. For children, the selection is limited to rebranded versions accompanied by a special kid-friendly cover. Regardless of marketing strategies, this marks the arrival of a Kindle for children equipped with a 7-inch Colorsoft display (color e-ink), making it particularly advantageous for reading children’s literature as opposed to adult books.

The Kindle Colorsoft Kids comes in two case options—Fantasy River and Starlight Reading—both providing a splash of color to the otherwise simple design of the Kindle Colorsoft. This device is IPX8-rated for water resistance and connects via Wi-Fi while featuring a USB-C charging port. Priced at $269.99 (approximately Rs. 23,300), it also includes a year-long subscription to Amazon Kids+, offering a range of age-appropriate reading materials for kids ages 3 to 12. After the free trial, the subscription will cost parents $5.99 per month.

Significantly, the Colorsoft Kids offers parents a Parent Dashboard, allowing them to select which books to include in their children’s Kindle library. This dashboard also tracks kids’ reading progress and allows for bedtime settings, among other features. Another noteworthy aspect is the two-year worry-free guarantee provided by Amazon in case the Kindle Colorsoft sustains any damage. Amazon assures that it will replace the device, without any questions.
