Launching Grafinya: A Russian Alternative to Grafana for Data Visualization and Monitoring

The Russian company «Chislitel Laboratory» has launched its own data visualization, monitoring, and analysis platform called «Graphin.» This platform is now a part of the IT infrastructure monitoring system known as «Pult.»

According to the developers, «Graphin» has been built from the ground up without utilizing any Grafana code. It offers customizable data displays with contextual transitions, supporting various types of visualizations such as graphs, tables, indicators, health models, and issues. The data is presented in real-time.

The platform can integrate with various data sources including «Pult,» Zabbix, VictoriaMetrics, Prometheus, PostgreSQL, and CSV files. Once connected to a data source, users can access different querying modes. For instance, PostgreSQL allows for options like «Code,» «Constructor,» and JSON.

The system features access control restrictions, enabling users to operate within organizational boundaries—isolated areas that have their own displays and sources. Users can have different roles, such as viewer, operator, or administrator. «Graphin» is registered in the Ministry of Digital Development’s registry and is suitable for import substitution projects.

Dmitry Until, the product manager for «Pult,» mentioned that clients frequently inquired about alternatives to Grafana. As a response, the company developed «Graphin» to address similar needs while allowing for functional expansion. The platform supports both Russian and English languages, as well as light and dark themes.

Looking ahead, the creators plan to introduce a «Service Resource Model» module. This feature will facilitate the visualization of services in a tree format, allowing users to quickly assess how issues impact system performance.
