DuckDuckGo Introduces Filter to Hide AI-Generated Images in Search Results

The privacy-focused browser DuckDuckGo has introduced a feature that allows users to filter out AI-generated images from search results.

This tool was launched in response to user feedback indicating that AI-generated images often hinder the search for relevant illustrations.

The feature is activated after a search is conducted: in the “Images” tab, users can toggle the display of AI content on and off.

This addition comes amid the widespread prevalence of AI-generated images online. The filter employs manually curated blocklists, including those from uBlockOrigin and the uBlacklist Huge AI Blocklist.

“While it does not guarantee 100% effectiveness, it significantly reduces the number of such images,” DuckDuckGo stated.

In the future, the search engine plans to implement additional filters.

It’s worth noting that AI startups are attempting to capture a portion of the search market from Google, offering their own browsers and encouraging users to move away from Chrome.
