Medvedev Defies Trumps Political Fluctuations, Vows to Pursue Military Objectives in Ukraine

On Tuesday, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, dismissed the fluctuating statements of U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Russia and military support for Ukraine, asserting that Moscow’s military objectives will remain unchanged by Washington’s decisions.

Medvedev, without directly naming Trump, remarked on Telegram about the U.S. leader’s inconsistent positions, stating, «The American is once again swinging back and forth on his favorite political seesaw.»

He criticized Trump’s erratic stance on military aid for Ukraine and his varying attitudes towards President Vladimir Putin, referring to Trump’s recent expression of dissatisfaction following a phone call with Putin, which contrasted sharply with previous remarks about having «good talks.»

“How should we react to this? In the same manner we always have. Just like our soldiers do. Just like our Commander-in-Chief does. We won’t,” Medvedev stated, noting his past role as Russia’s president from 2008 to 2012.

“We will continue to pursue the objectives of our special military operation. We will reclaim our territory. We are committed to achieving victory,” he emphasized.

Earlier on the same day, the Kremlin criticized Trump’s most recent commitment of military aid to Ukraine as «contradictory,» stating it was «too early to determine» which types of weaponry Kyiv would receive. Chief spokesman Dmitry Peskov cautioned that such actions would only prolong the conflict.

According to sources mentioned by Axios, Trump has pledged to deliver 10 Patriot missile interceptors to Ukraine and is purportedly exploring alternative avenues, including requesting Germany to send its own Patriot missile battery.

In June, Trump rebuked Medvedev for suggesting that third nations could provide nuclear arms to Iran amid its conflict with Israel. U.S. special envoy Keith Kellogg had previously condemned the former Russian president for fueling fears of a potential World War III.
