Tragic Drone Strike in Kursk Claims Four Lives, Including Young Child, Officials Report

A drone strike from Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a five-year-old boy, in the city of Kursk, which is close to the Ukrainian border, according to regional officials.

«With great sadness, I must inform you that three individuals were killed at the beach following the assault on the city,» Acting Governor of the Kursk region, Alexander Khinshtein, initially posted on Telegram late Tuesday. He later updated that seven others were injured, including the young child.

Khinshtein condemned the Ukrainian forces for what he described as an «inhumane attack,» asserting that «the enemy intentionally targeted a location with civilian presence.»

There was no immediate comment from the Ukrainian authorities.

In a subsequent post early Wednesday, Khinshtein confirmed that a soldier from the National Guard, who had been injured during the incident while assisting others to evacuate, «did not make it.»

A few hours later, the governor announced that the five-year-old boy had succumbed to his injuries while being taken to a hospital in Moscow for medical care. «Over 30% of the child’s body sustained burns, which is an extraordinary amount for someone so small,» Khinshtein stated.

Additionally, another drone attack from Ukraine struck the city of Rylsk, approximately 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the Ukrainian border, injuring two individuals, according to Khinshtein.
