Belinda Bencic Critiques WTAs Jam-Packed Schedule Amid Motherhood Struggles

The 35th-ranked player in the world, Swiss tennis star Belinda Bencic, has voiced her criticism of the WTA tournament schedule. She expressed her frustration with the demanding calendar.

«I feel like since my return to the tour after motherhood, I’ve been enjoying tennis more. I’ve become more relaxed. The WTA has made strides in creating better conditions for us to become mothers during our careers, but there’s still room for improvement.

The main issue is that the tournament calendar is simply insane. We can’t finish the season in November and then be heading to Australia by mid-December. It’s unreasonable to require so many mandatory tournaments; if you miss them, you face penalties or drop in the rankings. In this environment, it’s impossible to balance a career and family life properly,» Bencic stated at a press conference.
