Xiaomis HyperOS 3 Set for 2025 Launch Alongside Xiaomi 16, with Android 16 as Its Foundation

Earlier this year, the Chinese firm launched the Xiaomi 15 series featuring HyperOS 2, which is based on Android 15, on a global scale. Rumors suggest that the next iteration is already in the works. According to a reliable source, the anticipated HyperOS 3 might debut as soon as the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, coinciding with the expected introduction of the Xiaomi 16. This aligns with the rumored timeline for Google’s Android 16, which is thought to start rolling out next month.

Timeline for Xiaomi HyperOS 3 Release

The leak from tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) detailed the release plans for HyperOS 3 in a post on Weibo, a popular Chinese microblogging site. This OS is expected to be a variant built on Android 16 and is projected to launch in Q3 2025. Nevertheless, it won’t be the only OS update anticipated during this release period.

Alongside it, updates from Oppo with ColorOS 16, Vivo’s OriginOS 6, and Honor’s MagicOS 10 are also expected to debut.

Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 is anticipated to share a similar launch timeframe as the rumored Xiaomi 16, suggesting it might be included with the smartphone right from the start. Its debut in China could happen in September or October, following the release patterns of earlier models like the Xiaomi 15, which was launched in October.

In the meantime, the Chinese manufacturer is also reportedly distributing the stable HyperOS 2.2 update across 12 devices in its lineup. This update enhances system responsiveness and fluidity, as well as battery optimization algorithms. Users can expect an upgraded notification management system along with AI enhancements focused on productivity and photography. The latter is said to include updates to Camera Interface 6.0, and HyperOS 2.2 appears to support better cross-device connectivity within the Xiaomi ecosystem.

The list of devices receiving the HyperOS 2.2 update reportedly features the Xiaomi 15 series, Xiaomi 14 series, Redmi K70 series, Poco X7 series, and the Poco F7 lineup.
