Vondroušová Joins Kvitová in Elite Club with Berlin Title Win

The world’s 164th ranked player, Czech left-hander **Marketa Vondrousova**, has become the second representative of the Czech Republic and a left-handed player to win the WTA-500 tournament in Berlin (Germany), following two-time Grand Slam champion **Petra Kvitova**, who claimed the title in 2023. Vondrousova secured her victory in 2025 by defeating Chinese player **Wang Xinyu** (ranked 49th) with a score of 7-6 (12-10), 4-6, 6-2.

For Marketa Vondrousova, this title in Berlin marks her third career title and her first in the 2025 season. Her previous victory came at Wimbledon in 2023.

Throughout the Berlin tournament, Vondrousova triumphed over several strong competitors, including the world’s sixth-ranked player, American Madison Keys (7-5, 7-6 (8-6)), the 12th ranked Russian Diana Shnaider (6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3), the 35th ranked Tunisian Ons Jabeur (6-4, 6-1), and the world’s top-ranked player, Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (6-2, 6-4).
