Escalating Russian Attacks Claim Life in Central Ukraine Amid Failed Peace Talks

Overnight, Russian airstrikes targeted central Ukraine, resulting in one fatality and significant destruction, regional officials reported on Sunday.

The Dnipropetrovsk industrial area was hit by drones, artillery, and rocket systems, leading to the devastation of buildings and power infrastructure.

In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its military operations as talks in Istanbul failed to reach a resolution in the ongoing three-year conflict.

«The invaders launched a guided aerial bomb in the Synelnykivsky district, claiming the life of one man. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family,» stated Mykola Lukashuk, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Council.

«Additionally, five private residences and a kindergarten suffered damages,» he noted.

In the Nikopol district, a business, four residential structures, and power lines were affected.

Just days prior, Russian forces had targeted Dnipropetrovsk, resulting in an attack on military training facilities that killed 12 servicemen.

Moscow has conducted a series of assaults lately, promising retaliation following a bold attack by Kyiv on Russian air bases.

Both factions blame each other for stalling a significant prisoner exchange—the sole tangible outcome of the negotiations in Istanbul.

This planned exchange, initially set for this weekend, would facilitate the release of over 1,000 individuals from both sides.

However, Moscow accused Ukraine on Saturday of failing to finalize a date for the swap, while Kyiv claimed that Russia was engaging in «dirty tactics» by not adhering to the agreed-upon conditions for the exchange.
