Kazakhstan Launches Crypto Payment Card System Tied to Licensed Exchanges

The National Bank of Kazakhstan has approved the issuance of payment cryptocurrency cards linked to wallets on licensed exchanges within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). This was reported by the bank’s press service.

At the moment a payment transaction is made, the client’s digital assets will be sold on the AIFC crypto market, with the value being instantly credited to the card.

«This is a standard payment card linked to the customer’s bank account, meaning that, effectively, the payment will be made using real money after the immediate liquidation of crypto assets,» explained representatives from the National Bank.

The immediacy of the transactions will be facilitated by the crypto-fiat integration between the bank and the AIFC exchange.

Throughout 2025, Kazakh authorities intend to implement the launch of stablecoins pegged to the national currency and the digital tenge, as well as the tokenization of financial assets and the creation of services for storing, accounting, and exchanging cryptocurrencies.

Recall that at the end of May, the Astana International Exchange, the Solana Foundation, the liquidity aggregator Jupiter, and the licensed trading platform Intebix signed a memorandum of understanding, which involves promoting the mechanism of dual listing for enterprises.
