Ukrainian Drone Strikes Cause Fires and Disrupt Traffic in Russian Regions

Overnight drone assaults from Ukraine on the Kursk and Voronezh regions caused fires in residential areas and disrupted traffic on a key highway, local authorities reported early Monday.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that air defenses successfully intercepted a total of 162 Ukrainian drones overnight, with 57 of those being shot down over the Kursk region.

According to Acting Governor of Kursk, Alexander Khinshtein, debris from the downed drones ignited fires in several homes and caused damage to private apartments.

In the Voronezh region, where Russian air defenses reportedly downed 16 Ukrainian drones, Governor Alexander Gusev noted that the debris severed power lines, which then fell onto the M-4 highway.

Gusev indicated that a small section of the highway, which connects the cities of Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, and Krasnodar, had to be closed. Additionally, debris from the drones also harmed the facades of various homes.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in either region.

These attacks occurred just as Russian and Ukrainian representatives are preparing for a second round of renewed peace discussions in Istanbul.
