Russian tourists massively cancel bookings in hotels in Crimea – OSIG | Latest News

Russian tourists have begun massively canceling hotel reservations in Crimea for May and June due to the closure of airports in the south of the country.

On May 7, the president of the National Union of the Hospitality Industry (OSIG) commented on the current situation to the RIA Novosti agency Alexey Volkov.

According to him, the accommodation facilities of the peninsula this year are experiencing problems with loading – on average, it does not exceed 40-45 percent, only in some booking volumes reach 60 percent.

True, these figures can be considered correct only “with the expectation by tourists that air traffic with Crimea will be opened.”

Volkov stated that in such conditions, the hoteliers of the peninsula need urgent support from the authorities.

“The Crimean tourism industry fears that the season will be very weak and it will be possible to count only on a small occupancy of hotels,” the specialist predicted.

Note that the situation can be saved by the resumption of ties between Crimea and the liberated territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, which are moving into the ruble zone.

As reported EADailypreviously head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov promised that the passenger railway communication of the peninsula with these regions will be restored.
