Криптоиндустрия под ударом: сбой AWS ставит под сомнение децентрализацию Translation: Crypto Industry Under Fire: AWS Outage Calls Decentralization into Question

A significant outage in Amazon Web Services (AWS) resulted in the temporary shutdown of numerous online platforms. The issues affected services including Snapchat, Reddit, Hulu, gaming platforms, and cryptocurrency exchanges.

The disruption stemmed from technical difficulties at the US-EAST-1 data center in the United States. The AWS team reported a «higher rate of errors» in the application’s DynamoDB API. This database is responsible for managing hundreds of thousands of requests per second for streaming services, payment systems, and gaming applications.

At the time of writing, platform representatives indicated «significant signs of recovery» and a gradual return to normal operations.

The Coinbase team announced that some users have partially regained access to the platform’s functionality.

Robinhood stated that its trading services «are again available and functioning properly.» Earlier, users reported difficulties logging into their accounts and making trades.

Trust Wallet also experienced temporary issues with exchanges and notifications but assured users that their assets remain secure.

This incident highlighted the cryptocurrency industry’s reliance on centralized infrastructure. Social media users pointed out the irony of a «decentralized platform going offline due to a failure at a single cloud provider.»

As a reminder, in April, Binance resumed withdrawals that had been halted due to the AWS data center outage.
