В Bittensor произошел первый халвинг, приводящий к 8% падению токена TAO Translation: Bittensors First Halving Leads to an 8% Drop in TAO Token

In the AI-focused segment of the Bittensor network, the first scheduled halving has occurred. Similar to Bitcoin, the reward for a block in TAO tokens has been halved.

As with the protocol of the original cryptocurrency, halving in Bittensor is expected to take place approximately every four years.

«When inflation decreases while demand remains steady, it creates a more favorable environment for long-term price growth. Historically, networks with a halving mechanism have demonstrated higher performance over the long run, as supply diminishes alongside increasing consumption,» stated Taoshi founder Arash Yasavolian to DL News.

TAO prices have plummeted by 8% in the last day. Over the past year, the asset’s value has dropped nearly 53%. The token is trading at around $266, with a market capitalization of approximately $2.5 billion.

Bittensor is a blockchain network created to provide an alternative to centralized AI giants like OpenAI and Google.

The protocol allows anyone to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence applications using their computational power, represented by subnetworks. These entities are commonly referred to as miners.

«We anticipate a ‘flight to quality,’ where capital will aggressively concentrate in a few subnetworks generating real revenue, while ‘zombie subnetworks’ will be left on rations,» remarked xTAO founder Karia Samaru.

Experts expect effects similar to those seen with Bitcoin. The 2024 halving forced miners of the first cryptocurrency to diversify into the AI sector and seek cheaper energy sources to maintain profitability.

«We expect a temporary narrowing of the profitability gap, leading to the consolidation of computational power in the hands of the most efficient players,» commented Samaru.

Additionally, Sygnum Bank anticipated that tokens associated with AI agents would become a new trend in 2025, moving beyond their current status as speculative assets.
